Maria (LaPiana) Bondi, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024.
She is survived by her beloved children, Stephen (Brigett) Bondi, Jennifer (Larry) Meyer, and Christopher (Jeanne) Bondi, and her adored grandchildren, Nicholas (Nicole) Bondi, Zachary Bondi, Lauren Meyer, Kristen Meyer, William Meyer, Katherine Bondi and Erin Bondi, and great grandchildren, Isabella and Enzo Bondi.
Maria was born on May 7, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Anthony and Jenny LaPiana. She grew up in Chicago alongside her two siblings: the late Ben and the late Eileen LaPiana. On October 20, 1956, Maria married the late Norbert Bondi, enjoying 56 years surrounded by family, friends, and laughter, and welcoming three children. Throughout her children and grandchildren’s lives, Maria served as their guiding light and a gentle force. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Maria will be remembered for her contagious smile, quick wit, and enduring love. While she will be missed deeply and eternally, she is ultimately at peace. May she tend to the garden of heaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Epilepsy Society.
Family and friends are invited to meet on Friday at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chicago, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Info: 708-456-8300
