Lyndell 'Chuck' Ayres, Jr., 81 years old of Chicago, beloved son of the late Mary and Lyndell, passed away May 8, 2020 after a brief illness. Lyndell graduated from DePaul University with a B.S. in Commerce in 1959. He entered the business world with a great education, great ambitions and a great attitude. These fundamentals were the foundation of his success throughout his career. After retiring from Lutheran Children & Family Services in 1998, he enjoyed traveling with family and friends as well as volunteering. You might have seen him at Nice Twice Resale Shop. He had many layers to his personality. Though 'sensible'--he did like to gamble. The casinos beckoned him, sometimes he was lucky, other not so much, but he was pretty sure next time he'd be a winner. Lyndell was a car lover! Any car he owned was loaded. He liked sweets, he enjoyed riding his bike around Chicago when he was younger. He was an accomplished organist and would play favorite tunes on his Rodgers Theatre Organ. Raising and enjoying West Highland Terrier were a big part of the Ayres family life for decadeds and his Westies brought him much happiness. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a lively discussion and was a loyal friend. Lyndell will be missed by many. The family wants to thank Lyndell's longtime family doctor, Dr. Tobia Barbato. He is the the epitome of what a doctor is supposed to be for his patient. His guidance, compassion and support for both Lyndell and the family during this illness made a difficult time more bearable. We want to asknowledge the many neighbors that were his friends and took time to lend him a helping hand. And, to the staff at the Radiation Department at Resurrection Hospital, you saw a person not just a patient and treated Lyndell as such. We thank you all.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, private interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
