Lyle Charles Backus, age 90, passed away on June 11, 2025. Lyle was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. A husband to Lucy, a father figure to Jando, a brother to Lynnette & Elaine, son of Katherine & August, a god father to Arisbeth & Elvia, Uncle B to Zulema, compadre to Cecilia, Angelina & Efrain, a veteran of the United States. But what are we without these titles? A loving soul, an artist with gems & stones, a knowledge seeker and an avid reader. More titles but aside from that a memory of all experience and a heart filled with love, joy & laughter. A life well lived. We love you Mr. B.
Burial and military honors for Lyle will take place on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421. Those wishing to attend should gather at the funeral cortege gathering area at 12:45 pm. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army representives. Arrangements entrusted to Cumberland Chapels.
