Lorraine C. Smiles 100 Years old born in Chicago, Il. September 21, 1925. Loving daughter of the late William and the late Maria Parenti (nee Buti). Due to the untimely death of her mother, Lorraine was raised by her father and her Nonno and Nonna, Pasquale and Natalina Buti. Lorraine was the loving wife of the late William Smiles and together they owned and operated five businesses for many years. After selling their businesses they moved to Bartlett, Il. Lorraine was a go-getter and was not content just staying home, so she took a Hostess job at Our Kitchen Restaurant in Elmhurst, Il, and stayed employed there for 17 years. When she retired from her Hostess job, she volunteered at The Hanover Township Senior Center into her mid-90s. Lorraine formed numerous lasting friendships over the years and enjoyed playing cards and having lunch with her friends. She drove until she was 95 and loved her Buick automobiles. Lorraine was the big sister of William C. Parenti, Elizabeth (Jim) Schmehl and Irene Parenti .She was the proud mother of George (the late Arnette) Hancock and George's companion Kathleen Zajicek, Mary Kathryn (Les) Messina and Craig (Maria) Hancock. She was the doting grandma of Frank (Lisa) Messina, Lori Anne Benshoof, Nichole (Floyd) Stoner, Matthew Hancock, Adam (Kristine) York and Elizabeth (Steve) Naatz. She was the exceptionally proud and loving Nonna of Nicholas, Kyle (Tia), Tori, FJ, Francesco, Scarlett, AJ, Addison, Carson and Caroline. Lorraine will be missed by all whose lives she touched through the years. Please do not send flowers due to family allergy. Donations to The American Heart Association or Charity of your choice would be appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, November 11th from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cumberland Chapels (FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS). Funeral Services Begin: Wednesday 9:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home and will proceed to St. Ansgar Church, Hanover Park. Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M., Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
