Leon Zdeblick

October 19, 1927 — August 21, 2015

Leon “Bob” Zdeblick, Age 87. On August 21st, 2015, Bob passed away of natural causes. Bob was born in Chicago on October 19th, 1927, and was the youngest son of ten children of Anna and Joseph Zdeblick. After his mother’s early passing, he was raised by his siblings: Rose, Stella, Mary, Joan, Katie, Lolly, Angie, Bill, and Joe. Bob was known for his friendly demeanor and an electric smile that could light up a room. He was a loving father, avid Chicago Bears fan, a good bowler and even better dancer. As a kid, he hopped on the street car to caddy at Techonic Golf Course, where he began a love for golf. After graduating Lane Tech High School, Bob served his country in WWII. When he returned from the war he graduated from DePaul University. In 1951 Bob married his first wife Alesia. They raised three children in Medinah, spending summers in Lake Geneva and taking family road trips. After Alesia’s passing, Bob met Rhoda and they married in September 1983, bringing two great families together. Bob enjoyed the simple things in life: scratch off lottery tickets, pierogi, Chicago sports, and being a great family man. He was always in attendance at his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities while never missing a graduation or marriage. Surviving are his wife Rhoda; children Gordon (Beth), Karen (Stan) Kieca, Alese (Terry) Campbell, and step children Caroline (Danny Bleier) Glasser and Eileen (Mark) Wesley; grandchildren Brian (Michelle) Zdeblick, Kevin Zdeblick, Scott (Smyth) Campbell, Charlie (Jerica) Campbell, Joe (Whitney) Kieca, Kristin Kieca, Elie, Anna, Ben and Rebecca Bleier; great grandchildren Madison, Olivia, Maryn , and Nolan Zdeblick. He was predeceased by stepson Edward Glasser. Visitation Monday Aug. 24 from 3 to 9:00 p.m. (Wake Service 7:00 p.m.) at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge.
