Kenneth Van Spankeren

Kenneth R. Van Spankeren, age 91, U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on November 26, 2022. Ken is the beloved husband of Eleanore C., nee Gembica, for 63 wonderful years; loving father of Kenneth R. II (Judy Brennan), Steven J. (Kathleen) and Jeffrey S. (Linda) Van Spankeren, Karen A. (Chad) Osborne and the late Mary Van Spankeren; dearest son of the late Marie and Herman Van Spankeren; cherished grandfather of Allison, Brennan, Kenneth III, Kristin, Thomas, Mary, Casey, Aneliese (Jordan), Graicey (Bobby), Melaney (Jimmy), Jeffrey, Eleanore, Sophie, Owen and Nina; great grandfather of Jack and Charlie; dear brother of the late Gloria (the late Al) O'Hagen; fond uncle of many.

Kenneth "Dr. Van" was an educator for over 30 years with the Chicago Public Schools and in particular he was a Principal with James Audubon Elementary, Brian Piccolo Middle School and Orr High School.

Visitation Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL

Funeral services begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home, and proceed to St. Eugene Church in Chicago for Mass at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles. For more information call (708)456-8300.
