Kenneth Brown. Son of Lee and Marie.

Born and raised in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood. He and highschool weren't a fit so he dropped out and joined the Army's 187th Airborne/ “Rakkasans”. Ken jumped into Korea where he sustained multiple shrapnel injuries and was awarded the purple heart. After his military service he had plans to continue parachuting as a smoke jumper with US Forestry but upon returning to Chicago he met Jean who would become his wife of 68 years. Ken became a Chicago Firefighter and worked throughout the west side of Chicago. He was a Lieutenant of Engine 96, proud member of the Brotherhood of the Barrel, and retired as Captain of Engine 23 after 31 years of service. Survived by his wife Jean, sons Paul (Nancy), Peter (Diane), Patrick (Jennifer) and Phillip (Maureen). {yes his sons names all begin with P and they are all named after an apostle…..that's how Ken wanted it}. Ken is also survived by his grandchildren Jason, Jackie, Megan, Carey, Zachary, Michaela, Hannah, Aden, Justin, Ethan, Hayden, Ryan, Collin and great grandson Cillian. Ken never took crap from anyone, was often misunderstood and under-appreciated and will be sorely missed. He had a good long run. May he rest in peace.

Memorial services will be private….Ken didn’t like crowds.
