Kenneth Benedix

Kenneth R. Benedix, Sr., age 61, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, surrounded by family. Ken is survived by wife Jo-Ann (nee Canella); and children Kenny (Amanda) Benedix and Ellie Holmes; dear son of the late Barbara and Keith Benedix; dearest brother of Kirk (Annette) and the late Keith Benedix, Jr.; fond uncle of Keith III, Kyle and Danny.
Ken worked as a middle school science teacher for Chicago Public Schools (Dirksen Elementary) for 34 years. When not impacting the lives of his students, Ken made time to travel to several countries, all 50 states, every Major League ballpark (Go Sox!), and countless College Football stadiums (O-H!), as well as attending the Indy 500 rain or shine (or heat stroke). He truly enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was always eager to go on a road trip at a moment's notice. Ken was always willing to listen (even if he was sleeping) and lend great advice.
He will be remembered as a person with a heart of gold who always went the extra mile to help care for others. He will be sorely missed.
