Kathleen McErlean, 61, passed away July 6, 2019. Kathleen can easily be classified as “one of the greats” and lived life her way. Kath could always be seen with her colorful water bottle filled with ice water in hand and a rum and coke in the evening (or sometimes the afternoons depending on the day). She enjoyed her James Patterson books, well manicured nails, and spending time at her lake house in Delavan. She was always up for a good time and appreciated the time she spent with her friends and family. Kath was always the first one to say, “I love you” and always let you know before hanging up the phone. Kath was one of the best and was always the person that made everyone feel like a someone. Whether it was a stranger, a friend, or a family member, she was always there for you. Not only did Kath listen, she remembered. She remembered what someone told her years ago, the names of people in your story you told her, and small details that others may not have paid attention to. She asked nothing of others but was always offering to help others in need. Kath leaves us with a lasting image of how to live life to the fullest through her selflessness, fun nature and generosity. Life has to end, but love doesn’t. The love she has given to others will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Beloved daughter of the late William and the late Ann McErlean. Dear sister of Thomas (Dawn) McErlean, Karen (Daniel) Potter, the late Michael (the late Darlene) McErlean. Loving aunt of Sean (Karen) McErlean, Erin (fiancée Brent) McErlean. Great aunt of Jake. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W Lawrence Ave, Norridge. Funeral services will begin on Friday, at 9:30 at the funeral home, then proceed to St. Francis Borgia Church, Chicago, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment private.
