Juanita Dones Cruz

Juanita Dones Cruz, age 96, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 16, 1930, in Juncos, Puerto Rico, Juanita was the cherished daughter of the late Julio Dones and Clara Dones (nee Reyes). She lived a long and meaningful life devoted to her family, whom she loved with all her heart.

Juanita was the loving mother of Estanislao Melendez and the late Jose Ramon Ramos Sr. She was a devoted grandmother to Judy Ramos, Clara Melendez, Miguel Melendez, Hector Cruz, and Jose Ramon Ramos Jr. Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren, Elijah Rios, Ariana Medina, Michael Melendez, and Harold Melendez.

She was also a dear sister to many brothers and sisters and a treasured aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.

Juanita was a wonderful woman whose warmth, strength, and caring nature touched everyone who knew her. She had a delightful sense of humor and was known for her quick wit and playful sarcasm, which brought laughter to family gatherings and everyday moments alike. She found joy in the beauty of nature, especially flowers, and cherished spending time with those she loved most.

Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted her life to caring for them, offering unconditional love, wisdom, and support. The memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

Visitation for Juanita will be held on Thursday June 18, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, Illinois. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.

Though she is no longer with us, Juanita's love, laughter, and gentle spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
