JOYCE C. GARDNERJoyce Gardner (nee Hengels) age 83, passed away peacefully May 30, 2017. Welcoming her home was her beloved husband, the late Lorin, her daughter, the late Doris, her late parents Peter and Helen (nee Teubner) Hengels. Beloved mother of Brian (late Valerie), Lin (David) Bayer, Donna (Carl) Zeller and Laura. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas (Hally), Russell (Jessica), Carolyn, Meredith, Conrad and Richard. Precious “Memaw” great grandmother of Tyler, Jacob and Luke. Dear sister of the late Mary Lou (Stanley) Lipa, Phyllis (Ralph) Kwiatkowski and Lawrence Hengels. Devoted Godmother to Dot E. (Dan) Diasio and Cynthia (John) Udall. Loving Aunt to Jason, Charles and Michael. Joyce will be dearly missed by her extensive family which was the joy of her life, and was known for her love of gardening and butterflies. Joyce had “sand in her shoes” and loved traveling with various members of her family, especially her out-of-state children’s homes, several trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, camping in the Rocky Mountains, Black Hills & Grand Canyon, Caribbean cruises and Ireland. Her absolute love of life is reflected by her joyous smiles in thousands of photographs, the most endearing is swimming with dolphins in her late 70’s. Visitation Friday June 2nd, 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, IL. Funeral services begin 10 a.m. Saturday June 3 at the funeral home followed by Interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
