Joseph Samuel 'Papa Joe' Salemi Age 82. Passed away suddenly June 12, 2014. Longtime resident of Elmwood Park and Owner and proprietor of the Picket Fence Learning Center in Elmwood Park. Joseph was an Army Veteran in the Korean War. Beloved husband of Dolores nee Boyer for 60 years. Loving father of Kim Sargenti, Pat Palmisano and Toni (Tony) Chakchay. Beloved son of the late Stephan and Mary Salemi. Fond grandfather of Marisa, Jeanine, David, Andrea 'Mae', Joe, John and Chris. Great grandfather of Justin. Dear brother of Dominic (Marie) Salemi, Mary (Richard) Mugrosz, the late Laura (the late Bob) Varallo, and the late Yea (Geri) Salemi. Fond uncle, cousin and friend to many. Visitation will take place Monday from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge. Funeral Tuesday beginning at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. and will proceed to St. Cyprian Church in River Grove for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
