John M. Rose, age 95, U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. John was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Sharon A. (nee Anderson); loving dad of Julie A. Rose-Skifano, Lisa A. Rose and the late Karyn A. Duffy; dear son of the late Bernice (nee Babula) and the late Dennis Rose; cherished grandpa of Meghan and Katelyn Duffy and Emily Skifano; dearest brother of the late LaVerne O'Connor, the late Edward (Doris) and the late William (the late Sally) Rose and brother in law of the late John H. (Priscilla) Anderson. John was a fond cousin, uncle, neighbor and friend of many.
John was a member of Edison Park Lutheran Church for 39 years. He worked for Hammond Organ Company and the American Hospital Association. He was a talented wooden toy and sign maker, known as the "Wooden Thumb". He loved to bowl and doted on his granddaughters. In retirement, John enjoyed a family vacation to Hawaii, was an avid coin collector, loved to ride his scooter, and took an interest in pop-up cards. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Edison Park Lutheran Church Property Committee would be appreciated.
Visitation Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Funeral service Monday, friends and family will gather at Edison Park Lutheran Church 6626 N. Oliphant, Chicago for Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. Service.
