John Patrick O'Brien, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2025. John was the beloved husband of Suzanne "Sue" (nee Rathunde) for 53 wonderful years; loving father of Mary (Ron) Hadle; dear son of the late Therese (nee Boyle) and the late John O'Brien; cherished grandpa of Jeniece (Keith) Mores, Jillian, Colton (Kristin), Lauren (Matt Watterson) and the late Kyle Hadle; great grandpa of Brenden, Haley, Jane, Leander, Weston, Wells, Florence and Finley; dearest brother of Eileen (Paul) DiVincenzo, Terrence O'Brien, Catherine Zelenka and the late Thomas O'Brien, and brother in law of Georgena (David) Kalinowski, Betty (Lester) Kalinowski, Ron (Kathy), Bill (Donna) and the late Tom (Meribeth) and the late Paul (the late Marge) Rathunde; fond uncle of many.
John deeply cherished time with his family and friends, and nothing brought him more laughter than the playful antics of his great-grandchildren. He found great pleasure in being outdoors, surrounded by nature, whether he was hunting, observing animals, or simply enjoying a good book.
In recent years, one of John's greatest sources of joy was restoring and working on his beloved 1931 Model T Ford, which he affectionately named "Jane!" His eyes would light up whenever he spoke about her.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran, was the kind of person you could always count on—a helping hand, a listening ear, and a friendly smile. He had a gift for connecting with people and truly loved meeting someone new. His warmth, kindness, and spirited personality touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
