John Richard Nicosia

John R. Nicosia, age 92, longtime resident of the Northwest side of Chicago, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026. John was the beloved husband of Joan R. (nee Stackiewicz) for 71 wonderful years; loving father of Sharon (the late Ken) Stipta and the late Paul (Bridgette), Steven, Jeffrey and David Nicosia; cherished grandfather of Timothy David Nicosia; dear son of the late Josephine (nee Maita) and the late Louis Nicosia; dearest brother of the late Anthony (the late Josephine “Dolly”) and the late Samuel (the late Eleanor) Nicosia, the late Florence (the late Norman) Cizek and the late Josephine (the late Hugo) Realie, and he was a fond uncle of many.

John was a wonderful husband and father a loving and compassionate man. The losses he suffered in his life never deterred him from being the kind of man you would wan to have as a friend. If you needed someone, John was there. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. We will then proceed to his home parish Our Lady, Mother of the Church for Mass at 11:30 a.m., and the interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles. For more information call (708)456-8300.
