John William McGurn passed suddenly of natural causes/heart attack on August 21, 2024. Although he left us oh too soon, he lived a life full of adventure. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he loved life in the big city. John was a shining example of kindness and generosity. He dedicated his life to the Chicago fire dept for 30 years and was truly a hero. After he retired, he volunteered his free time at The Fire Museum of Greater Chicago. Once he passed, he continued to provide for others by donating his body to Gift of Hope organ and tissue donor. He was an exceptional father, husband, and friend, helping everyone any way he could. He was a die hard Cubs fan, loved to take his kids to watch the sunrise downtown, was always the life of the party, and always had some type of project he was working on. John was a self taught handy man who could fix anything. He always had a joyful outlook on life and a quick sense of humor that spread happiness even in the hardest of times. May he always watch over us and rest in peace. He will be sincerely missed and remembered by so many.
