In Loving Memory of John Canepa

November 27, 1944 – February 1, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of our beloved father and Nonno, John Canepa, who departed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on February 1, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, hard work, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. John was the beloved husband of Ines Canepa, for 49 wonderful years; loving father of Carla (Scott) Canepa Castellanos, Gina (Hector) Fabregas, Louis (Stephanie) Canepa and John-Paul Canepa; cherished Nonno of Tatiana Fabregas, Quinlan Castellanos, Joaquin Fabregas, Gavin Castellanos, Gael Fabregas, Catalaya Ines Fabregas, Carter John Canepa, Anthony Canepa and Cali Canepa; dear brother of Eugenia Canepa; fond uncle of many.

John Canepa was a man of many talents and passions. Born on November 27, 1944 he embarked on a life journey marked by resilience and determination. As an entrepreneur, he built grocery businesses with unwavering dedication and perseverance.

John was an avid amateur martial artist who embraced the discipline of both traditional martial arts and the meditative grace of Tai Chi. His commitment to these practices not only sculpted his physical strength but also imparted invaluable life lessons of focus, patience, and inner balance.

He is known among his close friends and family for his legendary stories captivating his audience and giving them a surprising glimpse into his life.  He could effortlessly lighten the mood with a well-timed joke. His dry sense of humor and quick wit made him the guy you wanted to sit next to at any gathering.

John Canepa was more than a provider; he was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of love for his family and friends. He instilled in his family the importance of hard work, determination, and finding humor even in life's most challenging moments.

As we mourn the loss of John, we celebrate the vibrant and remarkable life he lived. He leaves behind cherished memories, lessons, and a treasure trove of stories that will be passed down through generations.
