John Akers

John "Cappy" Akers, age 74, at rest on January 10, 2024. Beloved husband of Paula (nee Fleischhhacker) for 52 years. Loving father of Derec (Joy) Christopher, Scott (Lauren) and Lance (Alanna). Devoted grandfather of Mckinnon, Syra, Giuliana, Renner, Everly, Penelope and Remington. Loving son of the late Virginia and (late Bob) Stein and  the late John J Akers. Fond brother of Grace (Peter) Adamski, Julie (Burton) Cerone, Steve, Gary and the late Mary Gray. Fond uncle of many and dear godfather of Mary, Steven and Kyle. John was a carpenter for forty plus years with Local #80 and was an Avid Chicago White Sox fan as well as the Bears and Blackhawks. John will be missed dearly by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Heart Association www.heart.org would be appreciated. Visitation for John will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, Il. Interment will be private.
