Joann Phillips

Joann 'Cookie' Phillips passed away Thursday Oct. 23, 2014 at Cedar Point Nursing Home in Cicero after a near lifelong struggle with manic depression. She was predeceased by her parents Alice nee Lewis and Rudy Phillips, Sr. She is survived by her brother and guardian Rudy Phillips, Jr. of Cape Cod, MA, her lifelong best friend and supporter, Joy Reitmeir, her beloved godparents Aunt Mabel nee Lewis and Uncle Alex DiPietropaolo of Crystal Lake and special 'Aunt Shirley' as well as many cousins with whom she lost contact over the many years of hospitalization. In lucid moments, she expressed loving thoughts about the whole family, especially the cousins that frequented Alice's house as children as well as the family tree of diverse names: Lewis/Bach and Psheidt/Wolschlager. Visitation will be Monday Oct. 27th from 5 - 9 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Friends and family will meet Tuesday at 11:00 am at the office of Acacia Park Cemetery 7800 W. Irving Park Rd for a graveside interment. Please donate to your favorite charity supporting early child intervention to prevent the onset of manic depression.
