Jayne Artwick passed peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on the morning of Thursday, April 3rd—it was a beautiful day that she would have found splendor in.
Born in Chicago and adopted by Joseph and Eleanor Balko, she is survived by her brother, Jim. She was the loyal and devoted wife of Neil, supportive and loving mother of Hannah and Leah, doting grandmother of Eva, and companion to her cherished dog, Rudy.
Jayne was a woman filled with boundless love and compassion—a pillar of support both in her family and her community, and a light in every room she entered. She devoted her life to uplifting others as a personal trainer and a swim coach, constantly helping others to see the best in themselves and cheering them on as they achieved their goals.
The beautiful home she created was a haven for many; if you entered through our door, you were her family. You’d be welcomed with an immaculately decorated table full of lovingly made food, and your time spent in her presence would be filled with joy, laughter, and love. You would leave feeling brighter and nourished from her company and ever present optimism.
Jayne was a guiding light whose legacy will live on in all those that were blessed enough to know her. She will be remembered in the sunsets, in the blooming flowers, the quiet woods, and by firesides. On the perfect, 60 degree fall days and under the coziest blankets. In home-cooked meals and holidays, while decorating the Christmas tree and putting up the Halloween lights. In the songs that she sang and danced to, both in and out of the rain.
We love you, Jayne, and we will continue to feel your love and light always.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you make a donation to AFSP, a cause for which she felt deeply passionate, or to plant a tree in her honour so that her memory may continue to bring joy and solace for decades to come.
Memorial Visitation for Jayne will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at
Cumberland Chapels
