Janet Rathke

Janet S. Rathke nee Thomas, age 80. Janet was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Rathke for 59 wonderful years; loving mother of Charlotte Rathke and Sharon (Paul) Jaffray; cherished grandmother of Douglas, Joshua, and Rachel Roberts; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Janet along with her husband loved spending time in the outdoors, especially camping, gardening, and spending time with her family. Janet had a special knack for finding 4 leaf clovers as well. Janet carried on the family tradition of leadership in Girl Scouts! She was also a member of the River City Sound Sweet Adelines Group. Janet made friends everywhere she went and will be greatly missed by all! A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at the Congregational Church of Jefferson Park 5320 W. Giddings in Chicago, and on Saturday March 5, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service at St. John United Church of Christ 401 N. Main St. in Belvidere. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Congregational Church of Jefferson Park or St. John United Church of Christ. The interment is private.
