James V. Viverito, age 67, passed peacefully on December 7, 2019. James was the beloved husband of Marilyn, nee McGrew for 47 loving years. Son of the late Dominic and Eleanore nee Wade. Brother to John (Renee), Dominic (late Jean) and Jeffrey. Uncle to Candice (Eric) Schmidt, Kristen (Stephanie Benning), Danielle (Nilay) Gandhi, Michael McGrew, Melanie (Mike) Ferrara and Nicholas (Maria) Pischke. Great Uncle to Mikey, Azalea, River, Cooper and Ami. James was a connoisseur of motorcycles. He was a lifelong motorcyclist with over 45 years’ experience. In his professional life he was employed by the Illinois Toll Highway Authority for 25 years as a highway maintainer and operating engineer and had extensive experience with all aspects of highway maintenance and repair. In addition to his experience with maintenance and repair while working at the Toll Highway Authority, he was also a first responder to accidents and aided the Illinois State Police and various fire agencies on accident scenes routinely. He participated in every aspect of motorcycle riding. Including racing at the pro level, He had been an American Motorcyclist Association member since 1970 and was involved in several other motorcycle advocacy organizations. He served four (4) terms as the Chicago Chapter of A.B.A.T.E of Illinois President and two (2) terms as the Chicago Chapter Representative to the A.B.A.T.E of Illinois State Board of Directors. He also, was a sustaining member of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) and most recently served two (2) three (3) year terms on the American Motorcycle Association Board of Directors. Visitation will take place on Wednesday December 11, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 8:30 p.m at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Interment information will be posted on the website at a later date. In Lieu of flowers a donation to Misericordia Heart of Mercy, Chicago FMA #1708 A & B.
