James Moody

October 27, 1950 — December 15, 2025

James “Jim” or "Slim" Moody, age 75, passed away on December 15, 2025. Jim was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy who honorably served during the Vietnam War.

Born on October 27, 1950, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Jim later made his home on the northwest side of Chicago, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community.

Jim was the beloved husband of Joan (nee Di Michele) for 50 years. He was the dearest father of Joseph (Sarah Neylon) Moody and Lisa (Casey) Weaver, and a cherished grandfather to Finleigh and Braven. He was also a devoted “dog grandpa” to Cali.

He is fondly remembered as a loving brother to Michael (Mira) Moody, LuAnn (Preston) King, and Steven (Paula) Moody. Jim was also a dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In 1998, Jim founded Moody Plumbing, a business built on integrity, dedication, and expert craftsmanship. He took great pride in his work and in the many loyal customers who trusted and relied on him throughout the years. Jim was especially proud that his son has carried on the family business, having worked alongside his father since the age of 12. An encounter with Jim Moody, whether big or small, was always memorable to anyone who ever met him. His generousness, charisma, and generosity will be etched in his legacy forever. Jim’s love for his family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him forever.

A celebration of Jim's life will take place at Allegra Banquets 5035 River Road, Schiller Park, IL 60176 on January 17th, 2026 from Noon - 4 p.m.
