James Malatesta

July 21, 1950 — June 5, 2022

James V. Malatesta III, age 71, U.S.M.C. Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on June 5, 2022. James is the beloved husband of Joan M., nee Murray/Hejna; loving stepfather of Alison and Megan (Brian Schlenger) Hejna; dearest son of the late Carmela, nee DeLuca, and the late James Malatesta II; dear brother of Delphine (Arnold) Kosovski and brother in-law of Theresa (the late Thomas) Bolton, Joseph (Bonnie) and James (Noreen) Murray, Patricia (Michael) Sherman and the late John Charles and Mary Ann Murray and Cassie Gallagher; fond uncle of Jason (Megan) and Jonathan (Kreg Ruhl) Kosovski and many other nieces and nephews. James was a proud Teamster, a world traveler and a friend to everyone he met. He will always be remembered by his warm smile, generous nature and kindness. He was a true gentleman. Visitation Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave, Norridge. Funeral services begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, and then proceed to St. Paul of the Cross Church 320 S. Washington Ave., Park Ridge for Mass at 11:30 a.m. The interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carmelite Nuns 949 North River Road, Des Plaines IL 60016 would be appreciated. For more information call (708)456-8300.
