James Guenther

James “Jim” Guenther was known as a beautifully stubborn and kind man. Those who loved him understood that his stubbornness was simply another word for his incredible strength, his unwavering opinions, and his refusal to give up. Born December 22, 1949, Jim lived a life defined by this unyielding spirit until his passing on October 8, 2026 at the age of 76.

Jim was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Diane Guenther. Some may say he passed from illness but his family knows he passed from a broken heart from losing Diane.

He is survived by his three boys, Scott (Ana), Tim (Julie) and Peter (Lauren) who will forever carry his lessons on grit and determination, and his three grandchildren who he adored more than anything, Olivia, Will, and Ruby.

A service honoring his life and unbreakable spirit will be held on Friday October 16, 2026 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Burial will be held privately. For more information call 708-456-8300
