Irene Kurko

Irene Kurko, of Elmwood Park, passed away peacefully February 27, 2017. She was a loving mother to Allen and Janet; grandmother to Ken, Christina, Lisa, Jannette and Zachary; great-grandmother to Soon-to-be-born Baby Wilken, Gavin, Sienna, Viviana and Luca. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Chicago, Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bessie Pesh and her 12 siblings: John, Michael, Mary, Ann, Julia, Peter, Olga, Steve, Michael, Katherine, Walter and Victoria. She will be missed by her 'Donut Shop Club' friends and Elmwood Park, as she operated 'The Milk Store' on Diversey for many years, making her an icon in the community. Visitation Thursday, March 2, 4-9 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge. Funeral Friday 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church 5000 N. Cumberland Ave. Chicago. Interment St. NIcholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
