Hugh Carlin

Hugh Allen Carlin, a resident of Park Ridge, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on February 27, 1939, in Chillicothe, Missouri, Hugh was the son of Hugh Carlin and Ruth (Majors) Carlin. He graduated from Chillicothe High School, excelled in athletics, and was all-state in football and track. He attended Wentworth Military Academy on scholarship and eventually graduated from William Jewel College with a Bachelor of Science in 1962.
After starting his career at A&P grocery chain, he dedicated his entire career to the food industry; he eventually owned a food brokerage company known today as CA Carlin. He was well known for his integrity and mentorship of many industry individuals. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Candy Association in 2006.
Hugh enjoyed playing golf and fishing and was a long-time Chicago Cubs fan. He most enjoyed connecting with his numerous friends and beloved family. He had the ability to make everyone he encountered feel special through his warm spirit and ability to make everyone laugh.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Hugh is survived by his wife, Joan (Tedesco) Carlin; his children, Jennifer Carlin, Brad (Shelly) Carlin; and his grandchildren, Sidney Rosene, Samantha (Miles) Carlin, and Jack Carlin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marinelle Walker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The interment will be private.
