Harold L. Owen, Jr. passed away on October 14, 2026, at Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. He was born on April 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Harold L. Owen, Sr. and Corinne Owen. He was the loving step-son of Hans Petersen.
Harold (“Harry”) was the beloved husband of 56 years to Joyce Owen, and the loving father of Debbie Coates (James), Debbie Johnson (Dean), Dawn Montgomery (Tommy), Brian Owen (Gena), Jason Owen (Emily), Scott Owen (Angela), and Curtis Owen (Linda). He was adored by his 11 grandchildren, Jimmy Coates, Sarah Coates, Jake Owen (Jaime), Abigail Owen, Jordan Owen, Lucas Owen, Devin Owen, Brady Owen, Lena Owen, and Soren Owen. He was the brother of Marilyn Kremnitzer and brother-in-law of Gayle Langwost, Denis Langwost, and Arlene Herbert, and the loving uncle to many.
Harry had the biggest, softest heart, and an unforgettable smile. He was someone whose kindness, generosity, and steady presence shaped every part of his family's life. He was a proud Marine. He loved oldies music, old cars, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and the home he cherished with his wife in Old Irving Park. He was "Google Maps” before Google Maps existed guiding anyone who called with directions as if he were right there beside them. He loved being around family, on wrestling road trips with his boys, watching the Blackhawks, the Cubs, and the Bears. Above all, his wife, Joyce, was his rock, and his devotion to her and their family fueled his strength. He was a fighter who kept pushing despite the odds, living every day with love, pride, and a quiet determination that will forever stay with those who knew him.
Visitation for Harry will take place on Saturday, October 24th from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 12:00 PM at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 West Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, Illinois. Interment with military honors with the United States Marine Corp. will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
