Gregg Mangialardi
June 30, 1950 — January 18, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregg Mangialardi on January 18, 2025, at the age of 74. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.
Born on June 30, 1950, to Rocco and Helen Mangialardi in Chicago, Illinois, Gregg was the eldest of four children. He attended Weber High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1972 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Gregg and his family made Park Ridge their home in 1989.
Gregg was a devoted family man, having been married to his loving wife, Judith, for 52 years. Together, they raised two children, Michael and Alison, and is the proud father-in-law to Katelyn Swartz and D.J. Terdy. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Mindy) and Russell (Jenny), his sister Criscenza Sallmen (Ron), as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
A respected and skilled engineer and product manager, Gregg spent over 40 years in the power tool industry, where he made lasting contributions at Skil Power Tools. His work helped shape the development and launch of several iconic products, including the Model 77 Worm Drive Circular Saw, and sidewinder, metal, and concrete saws. Gregg held multiple patents throughout his career, leaving an indelible legacy in the industry.
An avid football fan, Gregg rarely missed a Notre Dame or Chicago Bears game. He and Judy were well-known at their favorite restaurants—Nonna Silvia’s, Blufish, Shakou, and Chef Ping—where they shared many wonderful meals and cherished moments. Gregg had a true passion for good food, good wine, and, most importantly, good company.
Above all, Gregg will be remembered for his celebratory spirit. No gathering with him was complete without a toast to life’s accomplishments, big or small. His warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to his work and his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A wake will be held at Cumberland Chapels in Norridge on Wednesday, January 22nd, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, and will then proceed to Mary Seat of Wisdom Church in Park Ridge for Mass at 10:00 a.m. The burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Chicago Food Depository at
