Gloria Makowski

Gloria Romaniuk Makowski, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was the loving mother of Diana and Steve Makowski; cherished daughter of the late Maria and Pawlo Romaniuk; and dearest sister of the late Nadia Hofsteadter. She also shared a special bond with dear family friends Fernando and Cathy Sanchez, whose friendship meant so much to her.

A proud Teamster, Gloria had a wonderful sense of humor, a warm heart, and a special way of making everyone around her feel comfortable and welcome. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures, especially the love and companionship of her beloved cat, Nemo, who brought her so much joy. Whether through a funny remark, a warm smile, or simply being herself, Gloria had a natural gift for putting people at ease and brightening their day.

Gloria will be remembered for her laughter, her warmth, and the way she made people feel. Her memory will live on through the countless smiles, cherished moments, and love she shared with those around her.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m., at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, Illinois.
