Giuseppe "Pino" Giacalone, age 83 passed away on July 20th surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband, father, nonno, brother, uncle, and friend.
Giuseppe shared nearly 55 years of marriage to the love of his life Olimpia (nee Campo). Devoted father of Christian (Mary Rose) and Natalino (Diana) and loving Nonno of Olimpia, Christian Jr, Giuseppe, Matteo, and Marco.
Dear brother of Caterina, Vito (Maria), and Anna (the late Mauro Baldini) and the brother-in-law of Giuseppe (Franca), Tony (Hilda), Salvatore (Anna Maria), Calogero (Louise), and the late Natalino Campo. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Giuseppe was born in Marsala, Sicily to Mariano and Caterina Giacalone. Giuseppe was a civil servant for his country for the "Arma Dei Carabinieri" for nearly 30 years and upon retirement in 1988, he and his wife Olimpia made the decision to come to the United States to give a better opportunity to their two sons. Giuseppe embraced the American culture but was forever connected to his homeland. He was extremely proud of his Sicilian heritage and passed along these values and traditions to his children and grandchildren. Giuseppe's deep commitment to his family, and his gratitude for life will remain in our hearts forever. His presence had a positive and lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was the guiding light in the life of his family and will never be forgotten.
Visitation Friday, July 26, 2024 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Il 60706. Funeral Services begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home and will proceed to St. Eugene Church (Queen of Peace Parish) for Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery, Resurrection Garden Mausoleum.
