Giovanni Geraci

Giovanni "John" Geraci, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026.

Giovanni was born on March 12, 1946, in Caccamo, Sicily, to the late Rosario Geraci and the late Giacoma Geraci (née Rizzo). He carried with him a deep love for his Italian heritage throughout his life.

He was the beloved brother of Agata (the late Tony) Maiorana, Francesca (the late John) Badame, and Giuseppe (Enza) Geraci. Giovanni was preceded in death by his loving siblings Antonio Geraci, Domenica Geraci, Marianna (Domenico) Iannelli, and Salvatore (Anna) Geraci. He is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Giovanni had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and anyone in need. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with the people he loved. He was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching soccer and hockey. A proud and faithful member of the Beato Giovanni Liccio Club, Giovanni treasured the friendships he made through the club and was known for his wonderful sense of humor and infectious laughter.

He also had a passion for traditional Italian cuisine and never passed up the opportunity to enjoy a good meal, especially when it was accompanied by a freshly brewed espresso. His warm smile, kind spirit, and joyful personality brought comfort and happiness to all who knew him.

Giovanni, also lovingly known as "UJ", will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, the love, laughter, and kindness he shared will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him forever.

Visitation for Giovanni will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, Illinois. Giovanni's funeral will take place on Wednesday, Beginning at the funeral home at 10:30 am and then proceed to St. Francis Borgia Church for 11:30 am Mass. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Il.
