Gino D'Ovidio

Gino D’Ovidio, age 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 31, 2026. Born on September 21, 1927, in Raiano, Abruzzo, Italy, Gino was the cherished son of the late Venanzio and the late Maria D’Ovidio.

Gino was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ida D’Ovidio (née Arquilla), with whom he shared over 70 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring love was the foundation of a devoted and close-knit family.

He was the loving father of Mirella (Vincenzo) Losacco, Patrizia (Nino) Iannotta, and Rossella D’Ovidio. Gino was a proud and devoted grandfather to Nicholas (Giovanna) Losacco, Nicole Iannotta, Trisha (David) Bieszczad, Nina (Danny) Hesslau, and Jonathan Ciupka. He was also a cherished great grandfather and affectionaly know as papa and papa Gino to Sabrina, Vincenzo, Elyana, Ariana, Olivia, Amelia, Anthony, and Gemma, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Gino was preceded in death by his dear siblings, Giuseppina, Bruno, Antonio, and Concettina D’Ovidio. He will be fondly remembered as a loving uncle, cousin, and dear friend to many whose lives he touched with his warmth and kindness.

Visitation for Gino will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Illinois. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Celestine Catholic Church at St. Mother Guerin Parish in Elmwood Park. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.

Gino’s legacy of love, family devotion, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
