Geraldine Huitink

Dr. Geraldine M. Huitink, age 82, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024. Geraldine was a Doctor of Chemistry and taught at the University of Indiana, South Bend for over 30 years. In addition to teaching, she performed research in many different areas. Geraldine helped pave the way for women within the field of chemistry. She was an avid traveler to many exotic places throughout the world, enjoyed theater and the opera. She was the beloved daughter of the late Gerard and Emily Huitink nee Berek; loving sister of Viriginia (late Steven) Valerugo, Gerard (Kristen), Colleen (late James) Pawlowski, and Thomas (Cynthia); beloved aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels at 8300 W. Lawrence Ave Norridge, IL 60706. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:00 am at the funeral home and will proceed to Our Lady Mother of the Church for Mass at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
