Frank E. Fergus

Francis “Frank” Edwin Fergus, a.k.a “FEF”, was born in Chicago on Oct. 15, 1942, to Frank and Hilda Fergus. He died Saturday, April 18, 2025, at his home of 55 years — a day after his mother’s 119th birthday.

A lifelong Chicagoan, Frank was a graduate of Saint Luke School and Lane Technical High School. He served his country with pride as Military Police officer at the Bridge of No Return following the Korean Conflict.

He married his wife, Marilyn Fergus (née Orth), at St. Pascal Parish in 1969. Together, they welcomed three children: Kathleen, Sean, and Sheamus, all of whom grew up in a little bungalow on Henderson.

Known to those who loved him most as Pop-Pop, he was the first to offer a sandwich or a Swedish pancake and the last to volunteer a complaint. We will miss his brownies, his form on the sidelines of our sports games, his steadfast gentleness, and his “yellow” on the other end of the phone.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, and their youngest son, Sheamus Fergus. It brings us immense comfort to know they are together once more.

Frank Fergus is survived by his two children, Kathleen Hepburn and Sean Fergus; his eight grandchildren: Mackenzie, Ian, Aidan, William, Patrick, Brendan, Madalyn, and James; as well as his daughters-in-law, Nicole Fergus (née Belmonte) and Jennifer Fergus (née Jones).

Visitation Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL 60706.   Funeral Monday, Lying in State from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 1500 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL 60657.  Interment Maryhill Cemetery.
