Frank Caputo, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. Frank was born on June 16, 1934, in Mola di Bari, Italy, to the late Domenico Caputo and the late Rosa Caputo.
Frank spent his entire life connected to the ocean, a place that brought him both purpose and joy. He worked as a fishing boat mechanic and proudly served as a first-class steward aboard the historic Andrea Doria. His hardworking spirit, love for the sea, and dedication to his craft defined much of his life.
On September 10, 1962, Frank married the love of his life, Rosa, beginning a devoted marriage filled with love, family, and treasured memories. Beloved husband of Rosa Caputo. Loving father of Rosa (Bill) Gueli, Chiara (Felix) Crudele, and Lisa Jordan (Matt Brauer); dear father-in-law of Matt Jordan. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra Gueli (Nimesh Rajakumar), Francesca Gueli (Jordan Morrow), Georgianna Crudele, Lucas Crudele, Owen Jordan, and Iris Jordan. Beloved uncle and cherished friend to many.
Frank was a devoted Chicago White Sox fan who loved fishing, gardening, and spending time in Siesta Key, Florida. He especially enjoyed his daily walks around Hiawatha Park, where he could often be found enjoying the outdoors and greeting friends along the way. Frank will be remembered for his warm heart, hardworking nature, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
Visitation for Frank will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Illinois. Funeral services will begin on Monday at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. and then proceed to St. Francis Borgia Church for an 11:30 a.m. Mass. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in the Indoor Mausoleum.
Frank’s love for family, the sea, and life’s simple pleasures will forever be carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
