Frank A. Batjes, born on July 8, 1936, passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2025. Frank was one of five children born to the late Andrew and Emma; he was the loving husband for 62 years of the late Carole (nee Licato); beloved father of Frank (Sherri), Jeanne (Tom) Peterson and Laurie (David) Halloran; best Papa ever to Danielle, Kristen (Brian) Michalski, Frank (Kristina), Joe, Angela (JT) Lynam, Michelle and Justin; cherished Great Papa to Brynn, the late Lexi, Chloe, Ethan and Emma; dearest brother of Emma Vaupel, the late Edward, the late Henry and the late Harry; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Though born on the south side, Frank grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on the north side of Chicago. It was there that he met the love of his life, and also where his lifelong love of the Chicago Cubs began. He spent many days at Wrigley Field with his brother, Harry, cleaning the bleachers after the game which earned them a ticket for the next day’s game. There were no two happier men on the day the Cubs won the World Series in 2016 – their lifelong dream had finally come true. Nothing was more important to Frank than family, and he was his happiest when everyone was together. He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a perfect example of how to love deeply and not take life too seriously. He had a great sense of humor and a unique way of making people laugh. Frank will be greatly missed but leaves a legacy of love, laughter and resilience.
