Eugene Mateja

Eugene V. Mateja, age 88, U.S.M.C. Veteran of the Korean War, passed away peacefully at his home on February 20, 2020. Eugene was the beloved husband of Bernice J., nee Stark, for 62 wonderful years; loving father of Cindy (Don) Lellish and Steve (the late Debbie) Mateja; dearest son of the late Stephanie and Vincent Mateja; proud poppy of Nicole (Brad) Volden, Courtney Kramer and Stephanie (Sean) Sloop; cherished great grandfather of Henry Volden; dear brother of Daniel (Belinda) Mateja, Cathy (the late John) Rindlaub and the late Joan (the late Felix) Gosiewski; fond uncle of many. Eugene served as a United States Marine before a long career as an Electronic Engineer. He was an accomplished woodworker, mechanic, Mr. fix-it and a violin maker. Visitation Sunday, February 23, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Services will Conclude Sunday night.
