December 27, 1940 — January 6, 2025
Ellen T. Poulos, nee Fitzgerald, age 84, passed away unexpectedly at her home with Bill at her side on January 6, 2025. Ellen was the beloved wife of William "Bill" Poulos for 62 wonderful years; loving mother of Stephanie (Mark) Poulos-Ruther, the late Dorothy (Bill) Poulos-Karmis and Yvonne Marsh, nee Berg; dear daughter of the late Dorothy and John Fitzgerald; dear sister of Artie (Debra) Fitzgerald and Marianne (the late John) Kretekos, and she was a fond aunt and friend to many.
Ellen was the most incredible wife and mother. She always thought of others before she considered herself. Ellen was fiercely protective of those she loved. She enjoyed singing, harmonizing, was a prolific poet, had a quick wit and had an incredible sense of humor. Ellen loved to entertain and was the most welcoming host who always had room for a few more. She was the type of person who bought extra Christmas gifts and had them ready and wrapped, just in case someone didn’t have anywhere to go….they still got presents to open. Beautiful inside and out, does not even begin to describe who Ellen was. She touched the hearts and lives of so many. She will live on in our memories.
Visitation Monday, January 13, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Friends and family will gather on Tuesday at the funeral home for an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service, and the interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove.
