Elena C. Marino

Elena Caterina Marino, nee Clemente, passed away at the age of 84, on November 29, 2025. Beloved wife of Pietro Marino. Loving mother of Angelo (Joanne) Marino, Giuliana (Rick) Summer, Sergio (Paula) and Massimo (Margie) Marino. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas (Sidney), Mikaela, Emilia, Gianna, Ella, Ethan, Haley, Carly, Lola, and Luca. Dearest great-grandmother of Taitym and Huckson. Dear sister of Giuseppe (Fina) Clemente, the late Maria (the late Aniello) Mancusi, and the late Carmine (Giovanna) Clemente. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews and dear friend to many.

Elena (our bright light) was selfless, strong, and pure. She shared her love by doing things for others, never asking for anything in return. She leaves behind the family she cherished above all else -- her children and grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Elena was defined by her devotion to family, friends, food, and joy. She loved to cook/bake and spend time with family and friends, and the dinner table was always a place of laughter and love overflowing with her incredible food and infamous “nonnina’s sauce.” She was such an amazing cook.

Her life was a testament to resilience, selflessness, and unconditional love and affection for her family. While the loss is immeasurable, we find comfort in the beautiful memories that will be carried in our hearts forever.

We will be honoring Elena’s life on Thursday, December 18, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. following with a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the Marino family wishes memorial contributions be made to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation, whose mission is to enhance patient care and remain a beacon of compassion, innovation and excellence for generations to come. Elena fought many battles over recent years and the time and care she received at Elmhurst Hospital helped her overcome these battles to continue to live a life she truly loved living.
