Edward Shortall

Edward John Shortall, age 76, passed away on July 26, 2025. Born to the late Dr. James Patrick and Mary Jane Shortall, Edward dedicated his life to his family, service, most notably as a Vietnam Veteran, courageously serving as a door gunner with the 1st Cavalry Division. Edward is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol; his children, Sean (Megan) and Jonathan (Louisa); and his cherished grandchildren, Kelly, Jack, and Eliana. He also leaves behind his brother, Michael (Sue), his sister, Joan, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, James Patrick III (Rosemary), Theresea Caputo, Mary Ellen Amabile (Ralph), Patricia, and Francis (Joan). A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, 11:30am, at St. Juliana’s Catholic Church, 7201 North Oketo Avenue, Chicago, IL. Internment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
