Donn Mcmahon

November 16, 1948 — December 2, 2024

Donn Patrick McMahon, 76, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024. A Vietnam War veteran and Triple Purple Heart recipient, Donn demonstrated remarkable bravery and dedication, serving his country and his community as a Chicago Police Officer for 30 years. Beyond his service, he passionately loved music and film and traveled to over 50 countries. A devoted husband to Elsa and loving father to stepdaughter Elsie, sons Sean (Kari) and Bryan, and daughters Tina and Marianna (Stuart) and grandfather to Elyssa (Nathan), Ariana, Leigh, Mia, Liam, Clayton, Oliver, and Zara. Donn built a life centered on family and love. His legacy of courage, kindness, and adventure will be cherished by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Abraham Lincoln Cemetery in Elwood on Monday, Dec. 9th. at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Donn's honor to his favorite charity, Shriners Children's Hospital. Rest in peace, Donn, a true American hero and beloved family man.
