Domenic Parato, age 92; beloved husband of Cecilia (nee Iacaviello); loving father of Anthony (Sandra), Connie, and Sandy (Jeremy); deeply loved nonno to Alex, Jimmy, Julian, and Gabriella. Cherished brother of late Nina (Parato) Passeri, Georgio Parato, and Nancy (Parato) Goldhagen; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; caring neighbor, friend, and mentor to countless people.
Born in Mola di Bari, Domenic blazed a memorable trail once he embarked in his pursuit of the American Dream. His infinite energy and contagious optimism filled rooms and hearts like no other person we have known. Singing, gardening, and dancing felt secondary to his true love: people. A born entrepreneur, there was not a single job our father couldn’t perform. From restaurant owner to water main contractor to master gardener, our dad taught us the meaning of resilience, hard work, and how one profits from a commitment to excellence. Above all else, his attention to every detail coupled with his selfless service to others remain inspirational and unparalleled.
A diehard Blackhawks fan, nature lover, and nurturer of all animals both big and small (including Harry, Rigby, and Misty), Domenic embodied loyalty in every form. His home is where his heart beat best. Everything his wife, children, and grandchildren know about love and laughter, character and compassion, passion and pride were learned from him. Domenic’s uncompromised love of family fueled his dreams and paved his path—we are beyond blessed to have walked it with him. In the end, we know he is still saying, “have a good day and drive safely.” His presence will remain in us, in our bones, and forever in our hearts.
