Dennis M. Syverson

Dennis Melville Syverson, 88, of Lombard, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Dennis was born on January 18, 1938, in Onamia, Minnesota, to Melvin and Emma Syverson. He graduated from Onamia High School and went on to build a successful career as a Service Manager with Fields Jeep Dealership, a profession to which he faithfully worked for more than 40 years. Dennis was known for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Above all else, Dennis cherished his family. He found great joy in attending the activities and events of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working on side projects in his garage, creating woodworking crafts, and spending time pursuing some of his favorite pastimes, including basketball, baseball, bowling and was also a huge fan of Judge Judy. His kindness, gentleness, patience, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dennis was a born-again Christian who faithfully served the Lord throughout his life. His faith was the foundation of who he was, guiding the way he loved, served, and cared for others.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Georgette Syverson; his son, Ken (Sue) Syverson; and his daughter, Laura (Laron) Self. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Rebecca (Erick) Karl, Bethany (Dan) Duval, Whitney (Art) Glowacki, Nycole (Jeff) Van Horn, Haley Obermier, Thomas (Claudia) Self, Sarah (Steve) Chavez, and Daniel Self; eleven great-grandchildren: Emmalyn, Emmitt, Emmry, Charley Rose, Rylan, Maxwell, Theodore, Adeline, Olivia, Logan, and Hazel, all of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, located at 6700 W. Gunnison Street, Harwood Heights, Illinois.

Dennis's legacy of love, generosity, unwavering faith, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Today, he is in the presence of his Savior, worshipping and praising the Lord he faithfully served throughout his life.
