Daniel Joseph Kvorka
June 2, 1963 - November 11, 2021.
Danny was born to Joseph Kvorka Jr. and Phyllis Novotney Kvorka at Oak Park Hospital on June 2, 1963. Due to complications, he was immediately baptized the hospital by Rev. John Bajus, joining the family of Christ, before joining his older siblings, Karen, Don and Kathy, at home. His godparents were Evelyn and Joseph Salat.
As a child with Down Syndrome, Danny taught his family about true joy, trust, empathy and unconditional love. When he smiled and laughed, so did everyone around him.
He attended Logan Day School for three years before residing in several group homes, including Beverly Farms in Godfrey IL; Bethesda Lutheran Home in WI; Howe, where he was a Special Olympian; and Rockvale, where his proud parents saw him graduate from special education classes at age 21. No matter where he lived, he always resided in our hearts, and Dannys’s visits home brought much joy and excitement for his family. He most recently resided at Meadows Home where he had lived for 21 years until his passing. Meadows was his “Home” as he often would ask to “go home Meadows” and be eager to go back after outings with Dad or long family visits.
Danny enjoyed going to church services with Dad and then afterwards going to eat at Maxfields; visits with his family; listening to music; coloring books; and cottage cheese!
Danny is survived by his brother, Don (wife Karen) Kvorka and his sisters, Karen (husband Warren) Priehs and Kathy (husband Joel) Cornell. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews: Kayla Priehs, Joshua Priehs, Jacob Priehs (fiancé Kelly Fredal), Jonathan Priehs, Kristine (husband Phill) Condrey, Kimberly Kvorka, David Cornell, Phillip Cornell and Kendra Cornell. He was preceded in death by his loving parents: Phyllis Kvorka in 1989 and his best pal, Joseph Kvorka, in 2016.
We thank the staff at Meadows Sheltered Care for taking care of Danny with love and dignity throughout the years, and especially, Tom Beeson, who became a special friend and advocate for him.
