Connie Karakosta, nee Demetry, age 84, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Connie was a happy-go-lucky, warm, and loving woman whose kind spirit touched everyone she met. After spending many years in Naples, Florida, she moved back to Illinois for what became a treasured bonus year—filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments with her beloved family and friends. During that time, she attended her granddaughter’s wedding, spent time with her children and grandchildren, and embraced the joy of her great-grandchildren. She was a strong, remarkable woman who met life’s challenges with grace and love.
Beloved wife of the late William “Bill”; loving mother of Corrie (Chuck) D’Angelo, Dean (Joy) Karakosta, and Stephanie (Jeff) Schoner; dearest daughter of the late Esther and Louis Demetry; cherished grandmother of Christopher (Therese) and Michael D’Angelo, Ryan and Stephen Karakosta, Allie (Brandon) LeMay, and Alex (Julee) and Niko Schoner; proud great-grandmother of Paulie and Pia Grace D’Angelo and Caleb Schoner; dear sister of the late James (Diane) Demetry; sister-in-law of the late Penny (the late Zoe) Grabova and the late Cookie (the late Don) Roban; and fond aunt of many.
