Caterina Surdo

Caterina Surdo (nee DeMonte), age 90, found her peace on Monday, November 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Caterina was the beloved wife of the late Bruno Surdo; loving mother of Antoinette (Robert) Nottoli, Leonard Surdo and Vito (Tanya) Surdo; cherished nonna of Alexander Astreides, Jonathan (Teresa) Astreides, Bruno (Megan) Surdo, Katherine (Andrew) Trimble, Nicholas Surdo and Daniella Surdo, and bisnonna of Jase, Alianna, Owen, Mason, Addilyn, Madelyn, Haley and Leonardo; loving sister to Giovanni (Maria) DeMonte and the late Giuseppe, Matteo, Constantino and Vitantonio DeMonte; beloved daughter of the late Crescenza (nee Ranieri) and the late Vito DeMonte; fond sister-in-law and aunt of many.



Born in Mola di Bari, Italy in 1933, Caterina immigrated to the United States in 1953 after marrying the love of her life. She was a loving and devoted mother who put her family before all else. Caterina will be remembered for her bright smile, her laughter and her phenomenal cooking and baking.



Visitation Friday, December 1, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Funeral services begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, and will then proceed to Our Lady, Mother of the Church in Chicago for Mass at 11:00 a.m. The entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines.
