Carolyn Sue (Heiny) Jessup died peacefully from complications of Leukemia on February 13, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years old.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Toby Jessup. She is survived by her children James (Nan) LoBue of Statesboro, GA and Grandchildren Ernie and Audrey, Robert (Tina) LoBue of West Chester, PA and Grandchildren Peter and Monica, Steven (Gail) LoBue of Wheaton, IL and Grandchildren Mark (deceased), Kari, Katrina, and Eric, and Sharon LoBue of Norridge, IL; and brother William Heiny of Tucson, AZ. Carolyn was born in Terre Haute, IN to Mildred (Griffith) and Donald Heiny. She received her elementary education degree from Indiana State Teachers College in her hometown, and taught for several years in Indiana and Illinois before taking a hiatus for child-rearing. She subsequently went back to work at Leigh School in Norridge, Illinois and taught there for 30 years prior to her retirement. She married Toby Jessup in 1981 and they enjoyed 29 years together, 13 in retirement before his death 10 years ago.She enjoyed celebrations around holidays and family events and visits from her children and grandchildren. She was excellent at bridge and played well into her 70’s, a basis for many friendships. She had a passion for education and was valued as a primary teacher in her school district and taught us all the importance of education. All her sons are married to educators and her two eldest are educators themselves. She was a voracious reader until macular degeneration limited her vision. She is remembered for her generosity, concern and sensitivity. Her last words were, “I love you.”The family is grateful to her many caregivers including the staff at Illinois Cancer Specialists at Resurrection Medical Center and the Nurses in the Infusion Center at Resurrection, all the people at Norwood Crossings Care Center and Rainbow Hospice, and especially to her long-time family physician and friend Dr. Efthymia (Effie) Pappanastassiou for their compassionate and attentive care.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Leigh School, 8151 W Lawrence Ave, Norridge, IL 60706All services will be private.
