Carlos Waters, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Genoa City, Wisconsin. Born on February 17, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, To the late Theodore Waters and the late Grace Waters, Carlos remained forever connected to the city he called home for most of his years.
Carlos was the beloved husband of Mary Waters, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Together, they built a family that became his greatest pride and joy. He is survived by his loving sons, Steve (Jill) and Robert (Sandy). Carlos was a cherished grandfather to Tracy (Brad), Alexis (Brandon), Nick (Brittany), Candace, and Evan, and an extended grandfather to Tammy (Eric). He was a proud and loving great-grandfather to Hayden, Morgan, Jayne, Emelia, Juniper, Malcolm, Nova, and Evie, and an extended great-grandfather to Glenn, Zach, Dean, and Hunter. Carlos was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Jason Waters. The bond they shared was special, and it brings comfort to know they are now reunited, surrounded by love and peace. Loving father-in-law of Pamela Waters and Son-in-law of the late Peter and the late Anne Nero.
Carlos dedicated over 40 years of service to American Airlines and proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves. Adventurous and full of ideas, he enjoyed traveling, movies, music, and cooking up his own recipes. Friendly and well-liked, Carlos had a natural gift for making friends wherever he went. He loved to laugh, tell jokes, listen, and offer thoughtful advice, and he treasured the moments spent with his family—especially with his grandchildren.
Carlos will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the many generations he so dearly loved.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. until the prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Illinois. A Mass at St. Monica Church will follow at 11:00 a.m., with entombment at All Saints Cemetery, Indoor Mausoleum.
