Bruno Caponigro

Bruno Caponigro, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025. Bruno was born on February 6, 1934, in Campagna, Italy, and later made his home in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.

Beloved husband of Linda (nee Del Giorno) for 63 cherished years. Loving father of Elena (Salvatore) Fragale and Ernesto Caponigro. Devoted Nonno to Sal (Jenny) Fragale, Jennifer (Kevin) Burke, and Alexis Caponigro, and treasured Great-Nonno to Vinny, Cecilia, Sophia, Zeno, Gianna, and Theo. Bruno was the loving son of the late Vito and the late Maria Caponigro

Bruno was the fond brother of Liberato (Maria) Caponigro and was preceded in death by his siblings Vittorio (Iolanda), Ernesto (Lina), and Elena (Vito) Mondelli. He was a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a cherished cousin and friend to countless others.

Bruno’s life was rooted in deep family devotion, strong values, and the traditions he carried from his beloved Italy. He will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, and the love he poured into those fortunate enough to know him.

Visitation will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. The funeral will then proceed to St. Emily Church in Mt. Prospect for an 11:30 a.m. Mass. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Immaculate Heart of Mary Mausoleum, in Des Plaines, IL.

Bruno leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and family—a life well-lived and deeply treasured. May he rest in eternal peace.
